Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) is a structured approach used to identify potential failure points in a process, product, or system and assess their impact, causes, and likelihood. It helps teams prioritize risks and implement corrective actions to prevent or mitigate failures before they occur. FMEA is especially beneficial in improving reliability, safety, and quality across industries such as manufacturing, healthcare, and engineering. By proactively addressing vulnerabilities, organizations can reduce downtime, enhance customer satisfaction, and lower operational costs.

Course Objective

Upon completion of this course, participant must be able to:

  • Introduce participants to the principles and methodology of Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA)
  • Equip participants with skills to identify, analyze, and prioritize potential failure points within processes or systems
  • Enable teams to implement preventive and corrective measures to enhance reliability, safety, and quality

Course Outcome

Upon successful completion, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the purpose, structure, and workflow of the FMEA process
  • Apply FMEA tools to assess risk severity, occurrence, and detection, and develop effective action plans
  • Use FMEA insights to improve product and process design, reduce failures, and optimize operational performance
